Abstract

In January 2018, the moods of Polish households decreased in comparison to the situation from the quarter before, however, they are still at a very high level. Relatively high moods of Polish consumers support a high growth rate of private consumption, which in Q4 this year, based on GUS data, amounted to approx. 5% y/y. The value of the IRG SGH Household Condition Indicator (IRGKGD) deteriorated by 3.7 pp. The smoothed indicator from short-term fluctuations remained at a level similar to the previous survey. Three of its components deteriorated: assessments of the future of the entire economy, fear of unemployment and assessment of its own financial situation. The savings ability have slightly improved. It is too early to assess whether the deterioration of moods means the reversal of the trend, the values of indicators in the assessed areas are still at a very high level.(fragment of text)
