Abstract

In September, 2023, manufacturing activity increased. The industrial confidence indicator (ICI) grew by 2.2 pts to -5.4 pts. It is now 2.6 pts up from the respective last year figure. Most of manufacturers reported the improvement, except for producers of investment goods and consumer durables, firms employing 51-250 persons and those operating in Central and North macroregions.
Production, domestic orders and employment increased. Financial situation of manufacturers improved. Finished goods inventories declined. Producer prices slightly grew. Again (for the second time in a row) producers’ opinions about general economic situation in Poland worsened. The surveyed firms are quite optimistic about their business prospects, and they expect their activity to continue rising in the coming months.
