Abstract

In the 1st quarter of 2019 business situation in the trade sector improved. The IRG SGH trade confidence indicator (IRGTRD) quarterly increased by 13.3 pts to 10.2 pts. It is now 4.8 pts up from the respective year 2018 figure and 5.6 pts up from the fourth-quarters' average over the last ten years, which amounts to 4.6 pts. Though the confidence indicator and the balances of: traders' general and financial situation, purchases of domestically and internationally produced goods, employment, volume of trade and storage space declined, the surveyed firms assessed their general economic situation as good. They expect their trading activity to increase somewhat over the next two quarters.(original abstract)
