Abstract

Business situation in the trade sector deteriorated in the 4th quarter of 2019. The IRG SGH trade confidence indicator (IRGTRD) quarterly decreased by 6.5 pts to -8.0 pts. It is now 4.9 pts down from the respective year 2018 figureand 2.4 pts down from the four-quarters' average over the last ten years(which amounts to -5.6pts). Though the confidence indicator and the balances of: traders' general and financial situation, purchases of domestically produced goodsand foreign goods, employmentand storage space declined, the surveyed firms assessed their general economic situation as good. They expect their trading activity to diminish over the next two quarters.(original abstract)
