Abstract

Business situation in the trade sector deteriorated in the 4 th quarter of 2022. The IRG SGH trade confidence indicator (IRGTRD) quarterly declined by 1.7 pts to -12.9 pts. It is 7.2 pts lower from the respective year 2021 figure, and below the fourth-quarters' average over the last ten years (which amounts to -6.4 pts). General and financial situation of traders diminished slightly. They significantly decreased domestic purchases and employment, but slightly increased foreign purchases. Firms expect their trading activity to deteriorate rapidly within the next two quarters.(original abstract)
