Abstract

Business situation in the trade sector slightly improved in the 1 st quarter of 2023. The IRG SGH trade confidence indicator (IRGTRD) quarterly increased by 9.3 pts to -3.6 pts. It is 3.9 pts lower from the respective year 2022 figure, but it remains over the fourth-quarters' average within the last ten years (which amounts to -4.5 pts). General and financial situation of traders diminished. They decreased domestic purchases and employment, but slightly increased foreign purchases. Firms expect their trading activity to deteriorate within the next two quarters.(original abstract)
