Abstract

Business situation in the trade sector significantly deteriorated in the 3rd quarter of 2023. The IRG SGH trade confidence indicator (IRGTRD) quarterly decreased by 11.9 pts to -3.1 pts. It is 8.1 pts greater than the respective year 2022 figure, and it remains below the third-quarters’ average within the last ten years (which amounts to -2.1 pts). Despite the decline in IRGTRD general and financial situation of traders improved. They increased domestic and foreign purchases, but slightly decreased employment. Firms expect their trading activity to improve within the next two quarters.
