Abstract
In September, 2019 business situation in the manufacturing industry slightly deteriorated. The industrial confidence indicator (ICI RIED) monthly fell by 0.2 pts to -10.6 pts, and is now 12.1 pts down from the respective year 2018 figure. The annual decline of the indicator is greater than recorded in August, which means that negative cyclical factors are getting reinforced. This negative impact is also reflected in the annual decrease of all survey balances, esp. the ones of total orders (by 18.7 pts) and export orders (by 20 pts). Manufacturers' expectations are diverse: production and orders are forecasted to rise (in comparison with the August figures), and, at the same time, employment is expected to drop, and financial situation of firms and their opinions about general economic situationin Poland are foreseen to diminish. Taking into account that the coming months are usually the time ofeconomic slowdown in the manufacturing industry, no significant improvement should be expected to come soon.(original abstract)
