Abstract

In January 2016 sentiments of Polish households have improved. The IRG SGH Household Condition Indicator (IRGKGD) increased by 5.1 pp., (after the improvement in the fourth quarter last year by 2.1 pp.). We observed improvement in all components of the indicator. The greatest contribution to the IRGKGD improvement was due to the increase of the probability to save and reduction in the fears of unemployment. Significant contribution were also due to the improvement of expected financial situation in the next 12-months. In recent quarters the dynamics of household consumption stabilized at the level of approx. 3.1% y/y. Development of the indicator IRGKGD, adjusted from short-term fluctuation shows a clear upward trend, which should have a positive impact on consumption growth. These are the prerequisites for accelerating the growth of consumption. (fragment of text)
