Abstract

In January 2017, sentiments of Polish households have improved, after two quarters of deterioration. The IRG SGH Household Condition Indicator (IRGKGD) increased by approx. 3.1 pp., the same as in the previous quarter. All the components of the indicator IRGKGD improved. The largest contribution to the improvement of the IRGKGD index was from the forecasts of the general economic situation (contribution to the improvement of approx. 1.5 pp.) and the assessment regarding the future financial situation of the household (the contribution of approx. 0.7 pp.). Contribution from question on unemployment amounted to approx. 0.5 pp. and 0.4 pp. from question on forecasted savings. Improving sentiment have been reflected in the acceleration of private consumption growth in the second half of 2016, which approached 4% y/y. (fragment of text)
