Abstract

In the 4th quarter of 2018 the sentiments of Polish households continued to worsen. The IRG SGH consumer confidence indicator (CSI) decreased by 1.3 pts, and is 7.2 pts down from the respective year 2017 figure. High consumer sentiments have already broken down. The surveyed households expect a slowdown coming to the economy, and are likely to take it into consideration while making their economic decisions. They expect a rise in the rates of unemployment and inflation, and a drop in their ability to save. The worsening of the sentiments may result in a fall in private consumption in the coming quarters.(original abstract)
