Abstract

In the fourth quarter of 2018, the general business climate indicator in construction (IRGCON) was lower by 26 points compared to the previous quarter and lower by 10 points compared to the fourth quarter of last year. The current value of the trend is less than a year ago by 5 points, so we can observe a clear deterioration in the construction sector. The current quarter is another period of worse situation for private companies than for public enterprises. As in the previous quarter, the highest rates are in the group of state-owned enterprises. A particularly large drop in the business climate indicator as compared to the fourth quarter of 2017 is observed in the group of enterprises performing works related to the construction of buildings (PKD 41). In the current quarter, the ratio is negative and amounts to -4.4 against a high, positive value of 20.7 a year ago.(fragment of text)
