Abstract
In the 4 th quarter of 2021 the construction confidence indicator (CCI) declined by 9.8 pts to -2.7 points. The decrease is mainly due to unfavorable seasonal factors. The construction industry has recently faced a number of problems amongst which the most challenging are steadily growing prices, low investment and difficulties with supplies of input goods. The current one is the fourth consecutive quarter of rapid growth in prices of construction services. The survey balance is unprecedentedly high, equal to 44.9 pts, 62.1 pts up from the respective figure of year 2020. The level of investment outlays fell quarterly by 13.9 pts to -21.7 pts. Three fourths of construction firms (75.2%) complain about high prices of raw materials and their supply shortages (69.9% in the 3rd quarter). On the whole, firms expect their business prospects and general economic situation in Poland to deteriorate in the next quarter. (original abstract)
