Abstract
In August 2017 the industrial confidence indicator (ICI) monthly grew by 8.9 pts to +4.4 pts, and is now higher than a year earlier by 4.2 pts. The volatility of business situation in the manufacturing industry tends to persist. After one month of deterioration industrial activity increased again. The most positive sign in the Q3 survey results is a rise in the balances of production and total and export orders. The increase was however lower than the decline in the respective balances noted one month earlier. The majority of the balances are still negative. The dark spots of the current situation in the industry are also lower performance indicators of public enterprises, and relatively deep pessimism prevalent amongst firms overt the future of the economy.(original abstract)
