Abstract

In the 3rd quarter of 2017 economic situation of Polish farms improved once again. The improvement, which has been ongoing for the last few quarters, was a result of favorable weather and aggravating conjucture on global markets. The IRG SGH agricultural confidence indicator (IRGAGR) increased by 7.9 pts, from -0.6 pts to +7.3 pts. The increase was mainly due to a rise in farmers' money income - the smoothed money income indicator, one of the components of IRGAGR, grew by 11.2 pts, from - 6.1 pts to +5.1 pts, contributing 95% to the growth of IRGAGR. The residual was effected by an increase in farmers' sentiments - the confidence indicator, the second component of IRGAGR, grew by 1.1 pts, and equals 10.5 pts now. The general indicator and its components are 14.2, 15.2 and 12.3 pts up from the respective last year figures. The three indicators nearly hit record highs.(original abstract)
