Abstract

In the 4thquarter of 2019 situation in the Polish agriculture deteriorated (after two quarters of improvement). The agricultural confidence indicator (IRGAGR) droppedby 2.9pts to -1.9pts, due to lower than expectedfarmers' income. The smoothed money income indicator, one of the twocomponents of IRGAGR, declinedby 4.3pts to -7.1pts.On the other hand, farmers' confidencedid not change. The confidence indicator,the secondcomponent of IRGAGR,grewby 0.1pts only (to 8.6pts). Agricultural activity returned to its long-term average rateof growth.The slowdown is not severe, but it looks it will last longer as the upcoming quarter is usually a period of contraction in agricultural production, and farmers are rather pessimistic about the prospects of their profits.(original abstract)
