Abstract

Agricultural activity continued to decline in the 1 st quarter of 2023. The agriculture confidence index (IRGAGR) decreased in comparison with the previous quarter by 2.3 pts to -23.1 pts. It is now 0.1 pts up from the respective year 2022 figure. The decline of IRGAGR was due to a fall in production and prices of agricultural products. The results of the survey provide, however, with some signs of upcoming recovery. The survey balances of the purchase of fertilizers, fodder, plant protection products and investments, as well as farmers' confidence increased. Positive seasonal factors, together with the resurgent economy, should favour betterment in the agricultural sector over the next months. (original abstract)
