HOW TO MEASURE THE TALENT OF EMPLOYEES – TEAM MEMBERS? THE COMTAL-TEAM MEMBER METHOD

Abstract

The article presents a description of construction procedure of new psychometric tool ComTal- Team Member the talent of an employee – a team member. At the beginning, the method’s theoretical basis is described – the concept of talent by Ulrich and Smallwood, and then psychometric procedure of creating the method (preparation of items and their assessment by competent judges, validation of the method and carried out psychometric analyzes). During developing the test, its psychometric properties were also assessed – it is objective, standardized, accurate, reliable and normalized. The method consists of 107 statements, it is developed in five language versions (English, Czech, Dutch, Greek and Polish) and allows to measure three general (Competences, Commitment, Contribution) and eighteen detailed components of talent. The method has an electronic version. Automatically calculates results and generates a detailed report for the respondent. It can be used in the recruitment and selection process, in periodic performance appraisal or in the diagnosis of training needs. The ComTal-Team Member tool can be used both in the management practice and during realization of research in which knowledge about determinants and consequences of the specific employees’ functioning in teams are expanded.
