Global challenges of development and world religions

Abstract

The paper is focussing on the analysis of world's religions responses to problems arising from globalization processes, which in turn are responsible for creating obstacles to further sustainable development. In the first part problems resulting from globalization processes are discussed. The second part is concerned with the characteristic of channels by that religions of the world formulate their response to the highlighted problems and sources on which world religion support their solution to the problems raised. Finally, the third part presents answers to these religions highlighted challenges: the challenges of a social nature (inequality, unemployment and poverty - as a consequence of globalization) and the mostly economic challenges like economic development policy consumer society and international governance. In conclusion, after a brief summary of the similarities and differences between the relationship of religion to the problems of globalization, the opportunities and risks associated with the activity of religion in this field are mentioned.(original abstract)
