Abstract


In the 1st quarter of 2016 business situation in the trade sector improved in comparison with the previous quarter. The IRG SGH trade confidence indicator (IRGTRD) quarterly increased by 13.3 pts to +9.1 pts. It is 2.4 pts up from the respective 2015 figure and similar to the first-quarters' average over the last ten years, which amounts to +4.0 pts. The changes of IRGTRD varied depending on the business profile of trading companies. For the majority of them a growth in IRGTRD was recorded, the greatest for traders operating in the following markets: timber and building materials, textiles and clothing, and other sales. The highest indicator was recorded for trade of: textiles and clothing, small metal articles, paints, glass, and timber and building materials. Firms trading in pharmaceuticals, medical products, cosmetics, beauty products reported their business situation worsened the most. (original abstract)
