Abstract

Just as before, the results of the manufacturing industry survey were highly volatile in the 2nd quarter of 2016. The industrial confidence indicator (ICI) declined by 5.7 pts in April, and increased by 1.1 pts in May. It quarterly grew by 3.3 pts but was 3.0 pts down from the respective 2015 figure. In comparison with the February figures business situation improved the most in manufacture of consumer non-durables, in the large firms (501-2000 employees), and in the Śląskie Voivodeship. All the main balances (of production, total and export orders, employment, financial situation, capacity utilization and exports) quarterly increased. Inventories, prices and average costs diminished. Opinions about general economic situation in Poland did not change. Firms are modestly optimistic about their business prospects over the next months. (original abstract)
