Abstract

The industrial confidence indicator (ICI) increased by 0.1 pts in June and 3.5 pts in May. It quarterly grew by 2.5 pts. and was 1.7 pts up from the respective 2015 figure. In comparison with the May figures business situation improved the most in manufacture of consumer durables, in the medium-size firms (251-500 employees), and in the Małopolskie Voivodeship. The majority of the main balances (total and export orders, finished goods inventories, employment, financial situation, capacity utilization and exports) quarterly increased. Opinions about general economic situation in Poland improved. Firms are modestly optimistic about their business prospects over the next months. There are however some dark spots on the picture of the manufacturing industry on the 3rd quarter - production dropped, the deflation rate is on the decline, as well as the growth rate of employment, and average costs are rising. Seasonal factors will be negative in the coming months. All of these makes predicting changes of business situation hardly reliable. (original abstract)
