Abstract

In January, 2017 sentiments of Polish households improved. The IRG SGH consumer confidence indicator (IRGKGD) increased by 3.1 pts, the same as in the previous quarter. All the components of the indicator grew. The greatest contribution to the rise of IRGKGD was made by the balances of future general economic situation (1.5 pts) and future financial situation of households (0.7 pts). The contribution from the balances of the fear of getting unemployed and future saving were slightly lower (0.5 and 0.4 pts, respectively). The growing consumer confidence reflected in the higher rate of private consumption growth in the second half of 2016, which rose to nearly 4% y/y. (fragment of text)
