Abstract

In the 3rd quarter of 2018 the construction confidence indicator (CCI) amounts to 24 pts, 4.6 pts down from the previous quarter but 7.7 pts up from the respective figure of 2017. Though the majority of the balances increased, firms are very pessimistic about their business prospects. Indeed, it is low expectations of future employment that made CCI to decline. Firms report rising prices of raw materials, growing legal instability and increasing tax burden. The 4th quarter of the year is expected to come about with a slowdown in the construction industry.(original abstract)
