Abstract

In the 4th quarter of 2018 the IRG SGH barometer (BARIRG) decreased by 6.2 pts to -1.8 pts. Despite the fall of BARIRG, it is still above the long-term average (which is -8.7 pts). Business situation in the manufacturing industry, construction, agriculture and trade deteriorated, and consumer sentiments diminished. On the whole, business confidence and consumer sentiments are relatively low, and firms and consumers are pessimistic about future prospects of the economy. As negative cyclical and seasonal factors are overlapping, economic situation in the country is expected to worsen in the coming months.(original abstract)
