Abstract

In the 4th quarter of 2018 the construction confidence indicator (ICI) decreased by 26 points compared to the previous quarter, and is now 10.5 pts down from the respective 2017 figure. As in the previous quarter, the highest confidence has been recorded for state-owned enterprises. A particularly large drop in ICI (25.1 pts), in comparison to the 4th quarter of 2017, has been noted for firms constructing buildings (NACE 41). The majority of the balances declined. Construction firms are very pessimistic about their near future business prospects. Apparently, there is seasonal slowdown on the horizon.(original abstract)
