Abstract
In the 2nd quarter of 2019 the industrial confidence indicator (ICI) was going through ups and downs, weakly corresponding to the seasonality pattern. In March the indicator dropped by 3.5 pts, in April increased by 0.7 pts, and in May it fell again by 0.8 pts. In total ICI declined by 3.6 pts to -0.3 pts. It is now 3.1 pts down from the respective year 2018 figure. The signs of recovery, which were noticed in the 1st quarter, did not uphold. The current performance of the manufacturing industry results from negative cyclical factors which outstrip positive seasonal ones. The declining mid-term tendency of ICI has been stepping out. Manufacturers are modestly optimistic about their future business prospects.(original abstract)
