Abstract

In the 2nd quarter of 2019 the construction confidence indicator (CCI) amounted to 22.4 pts, and is lower by 6.2 pts than in the second quarter of 2018. The yearly decrease of the indicator is comparable in size to those recorded in the second quarters of 2009 (28.7 pts) and 2012 (22.2 pts), i.e. during Great Recession and the European debt crisis. In comparison with the 1st quarter of 2019 the indicator increased by 25.6 pts. The increase, due to positive seasonal factors, should not be, however, considered substantial as in the recent decade worse results were recorded only twice, in 2009 and 2012. The declining mid-term tendency in the construction industry has been continuing for over a year.(original abstract)
