Abstract

In the 4th quarter of 2019 general economic situation in Poland worsened. The IRG SGH barometer (BARIRG) decreased by 4.0 pts to -9.2 pts, and is now by 7.5 pts lower than one year ago. The result is consistent with the established pattern of seasonal changes in the economy as usually economic activity slows down in the 4th quarter of a year, with BARIRG falling down from the previous quarter figure and turning negative. The mid-term tendency of the indicator is, however, declining due to downward trends in motor transport, manufacturing and construction industries. No improvement is expected to come over the next months.(original abstract)
