Abstract
In the 4th quarter of 2019 consumer confidence slightly worsened. The IRG SGH consumer sentiment index (CSI) quarterly decreased by 0.4 pts. The inconsiderable change of the indicator is due to counter-movements of its components. Consumers expect unemployment to increase and the economy to slow down, but, on the other hand, they better assess their ability to earn income and save money. It seems that, so far, negative signals which come from the economy have not made any impact on how consumers perceive their financial situation. Nevertheless, the declining tendency of the indicator, which began two years ago, is developing.(original abstract)
