Abstract

This paper discusses the limitations of Smart World implementation possibilities, in particular in the small and medium-sized enterprise (SME) business models. In addition, it covers the segmentation of types and elements of this concept, along with the determination of development trends in this area. The work is a review, taking into account selected results of qualitative research (based on interviews) and concerns business models of SMEs and potential changes in their structures, resulting from the effects of information technology development. The article identifies threats that are a direct consequence of this development. The analysis presented therein has some limitations in terms of representativeness, partly due to its retrospective nature, and therefore requires further verification.
