Abstract

The article below deals with managerial competencies and their influence on the development of Smart organizations. The analysis was performed using the desk research method, browsing the latest articles and open access internet sources. The concept of Smart organization is strongly associated with a broader concept of Industry 4.0. In forthcoming years and decades it will be changing the paradigm of management. Before all, this exerts a significant impact on the new roles and new proportions between human beings and technology. The implementation of Industry 4.0 will bear profound consequences for managerial competencies. The functioning of Smart organization will require managers to possess and utilize their managerial skills in highly technicist environments. Managerial competencies, seen as a collection of knowledge and experience, will mean that managers will hold expertise in the usage of hardware, coding and software, and a good understanding of interrelations between these knowledge/skill groups. If the typology of managerial competencies by Gordon and Howell is a base, this will be expanded by human-machine communication competencies(as an add-on to interpersonal skills).
