Abstract

In April of 2016 sentiments of Polish households have deteriorated. The IRG SGH Household Condition Indicator (IRGKGD) decreased by 2 pp. (after improving in the first quarter by 5.1 pp.). Deterioration of forecasts of the overall economic situation and ability to save contributed in the highest to the decrease of the IRGKGD index. Assessment as to the fear of unemployment and anticipated financial situation in the coming 12-months remained at a level similar to the previous study. IRGKGD index adjusted from short-term fluctuations still shows a clear upward trend, the index is higher by approx. 8 pp. than at the beginning of 2015. From the first quarter. 2015 dynamics of household consumption stabilized at the level of approx. 3.1% y/y; in the fourth quarter slowed down to 3.0%; in the first quarter 2016 accelerated slightly to 3.2% y/y. From the point of view of sentiment there is a space to accelerate consumption growth. (fragment of text)
