Abstract

In the 4th quarter of 2018 the IRG SGH banking confidence indicator (IRGBAN) decreased to 17.7 pts. It is now 27.6 pts down from the previous quarter figure, and only slightly (by 0.4 pts) lower than expected. The quarterly decline of the indicator was caused by a fall in the balances of: the result on banking activity, profits and employment. The surveyed banks expect situation in the banking sector to continue worsening in the 1st quarter of 2019 (IRGBAN is forecasted to fall to -3.8 pts).(original abstract)
