Bankruptcies in the context of sustainable development

Abstract
The article presents the problems of bankruptcy of enterprises in the conditions of sustainable development. The main goal was to search for links between some of the tasks included in the sustainable development agenda, such as corruption or expenditure on research and development, and the number of bankruptcies. Hence, the author presents the statistics of bankruptcies of economic entities in Poland and selected countries in the world, showing the scale of the phenomenon in a broader context. Moreover, the relationship between the selected indicators, based on the example of Poland, has been described in detail. The research has shown the need to extend the so far conducted bankruptcy and bankruptcy statistics for enterprises with new measures and indicators, especially those from the area of sustainable development, as they may guide further in-depth analyzes in this regard.
