The article addresses the problem of defining and measuring value in research and development (R&D) projects, pointing to their importance for the effective spending of public and private funds. The main objective is to assess the feasibility of implementing value management and project metrics in R&D projects. Interviews were conducted with project managers and a study using value metrics was launched among managers and project team members. The results indicate a low awareness of the need for systematic value measurement, difficulties in operationalising metrics, and a lack of understanding of project management language in the academic environment. The study is preliminary in nature but may serve as a basis for further work on effective R&D project management.
