Abstract

The article addresses the issue of deprojectification, understood as decreased use and deinstitutionalisation of projects in organisations, society, or their parts. This conceptual article attempts to identify potential causes of organisational deprojectification. It can be stated that deprojectification exhibits diverse mechanisms and determinants, and the durability of project-based processes is not directly correlated with the number or scale of projects, but rather with the consolidation of the project-based mode of operation within an organisation. The sources of deprojectification differ. Some originate from external factors, while others stem from internal decisions of organisations that consciously choose to completely abandon or limit the number of projects. The process of deprojectification does not have to concern the whole organisational operation. Enterprises may pursue selective deprojectification, choosing to abandon the project-based model in selected areas of activity, while simultaneously retaining other spheres still grounded in the project logic. In conclusion, it is indicated that future research should focus on analysing the nature of deprojectification at various levels, including organisational, societal, and individual as well as on further examination of its causes and consequences.
