Abstract

The study presents the dynamics of the number of entities of the creative sector registered in the REGON base in the years 2009–2016. In the analysed period, it is the district of the capital city of Warsaw that has the largest total number of registered entities of the creative sector in relation to the analysed districts. There are nearly four times more of them in comparison with the city of Cracow and several times more than in the remaining districts. Thus, it may be said that Warsaw is a dominating centre of creative industries in relation to the remaining metropolitan centres in Poland. As a result of comparison of the average pace of changes in the number of creative sector entities with the average pace of changes in the number of entities of the national economy in the REGON register, it was found out that they were relatively close to each other. Thus, it may be said that the number of entities of the creative sector in the analysed areas and within the analysed period changes at a similar pace to the whole population of entities in the national economy.
