Project Governance. Development of Organisational Project Governance

The growth in the share and significance of project management is a permanent trend confirmed by a lot of research. Projects are not only sporadic, single events in the activity of an organization, but a durable component found all the time in a considerable number of the so-called project portfolios. It gives rise to numerous consequences for the organisation management. One of the most important is the introduction of new organizational solutions to the organization management consisting, firstly: in working out and implementing a set of formal rules, structures and processes serving an efficient and effective project management, and secondly: in including project management in the system of management of an organisation to follow its strategy and goals. These solutions are referred to as project governance. The problem of project governance has emerged in the project management practice and theory in recent years and is an intensively developed research and practical trend at present.The present article ims to present the origin and idea of the project governance as well as its systematics and critical assessment based on the literature research as well as practical experience.
