The article explains the complexity of behaviours observed among social media users after a crisis experienced at a local scale. It also describes how the demand for information can be satisfied, i.e., by explaining the course of events, collecting direct accounts from the place or identifying those responsible for the tragedy. The research consists of two parts: 1) investigation into comments in social media (Facebook, YouTube), 2) analysis of the results of a questionnaire-based study (N = 23) designed to find
out about the goals of using social media in relation with a crisis situation.
