Abstract

he article attempts to identify differences in the character of project portfolios and networks. It describes the idea of these two sets of projects and their specific features. However, while the character and the way in which project portfolios are managed are well characterised in the literature, the character and specificity of project networks have not been really thoroughly examined. And presently, more and more organisations which initiate many projects at the same time and combine them in sets, execute them within a project network formula. The author claims that it works in this way because project networks allow for the achievement of common goals, make the operation more flexible and create synergy effects attracting many organisations to one network.
