Abstract

Inflation expectations are one of the key parameters in monetary policy. The purpose of the article is to verify the methods of measuring inflation expectations in Poland and to indicate possible modifications in research on inflation expectations. The article presents the importance of inflation expectations in economic theory and various sources of information based on which the development of inflation expectations in Poland can be assessed. Particular attention was paid to the issue of aggregating information obtained based on surveys on inflation expectations. The analysis conducted leads to recommendations regarding the scope and method of conducting inflation expectations research in Poland. The introduction of the recommendation should result in an improvement in the quality of information on the inflation expectations of entrepreneurs and consumers. This will facilitate a more complete assessment of the pricing mechanism and the emergence of potential risks related to the occurrence of a wage-price spiral. The implementation of most recommendations does not generate additional costs, because the proposed actions usually boil down to changes in the organization of previously conducted
analytical activities on inflation expectations.
