Impact of client and contractor relations on categories of the performance management system: case studies of construction projects

The main objective of the paper are to highlighted major factors affecting the relations between client and contractors of construction projects and to define the categories of project performance management system that relations could interference. In the paper following factors were presented: contract conditions, strategic objectives of contract sides, external context of project, trust, formal an informal communication system. In the paper following categories of project performance management system correlated with quality of relations between client and contractors were recognized: level of performance confirmation, invoicing, level of acceptance of optimization changes submitted by contractor, confirmation of documentation quality, calculation of contract penalties, project cash flow, potential forthcoming revenues from new projects. The presented findings can support client’s and contractor’s project managers in development of the performance management system, that may result in improving ofeffiiency and effectiveness.
