The paper aims at presenting selected results of studies on the dynamics of inter-organisational cooperation processes in mobile telecommunications industry. The studies were conducted using the longitudinal research methods, such as temporal bracketing and visual mapping. The first part of the paper discusses longitudinal studies against the background of other analytical methods applied to examine inter-organisational cooperation and provides a synthetic analysis of studies on cooperation in mobile telephony industry that have been conducted to date. The second part of the paper investigates into how cooperation is established and how it evolves using the studies on inter-organisational coopera- tion carried out in two selected companies from the industry. We identified stages of cooperation, the sequence of events, as well as universal (generic) and specific determinants of cooperation between the two enterprises covered by the analysis.
